What’s happening in 2022?

  • by

Hey, everyone! Welcome to 2022. I’m not going to say it can’t be worse than 2021 (or 2020), and I’m not going to say it’s going to be the best year ever, either.

Not that I’m superstitious, but it’s blah blah blah, right?

Anyway, you’re not here for that. You can find that kinda stuff anywhere. You’re here because you want to know what I’ve got coming up over the next 12-months. If not, you’ve definitely navigated to the wrong page – but since you’re here, you might as well stick around for a few minutes.

You might find something interest, after all.

Weight of the World book 2

As you’re most likely aware, I published my debut novel, Reality Check, last year. It’s been quite the ride since then, with a lot of blagging people about it and as much learning and research into what else I should be doing.

I haven’t figured it all out yet, and it’s probably going to take me quite a while until I get to any kind of stage where I can honestly say I have an idea of what to do, what works and why I’m doing it.

In between all of this, though, I know it’s important to keep up momentum. As much as I’d love to drop a new book every three to six months, it’s just not feasible right now – unless you, and everyone you know – and everyone they know – buys a copy. Until then, I just have to work away as fast as I can without compromising on quality.

So, expect more details on the sequel to Reality Check in the next couple of months, but just know it’s being worked on. It’s been to beta readers and completed a developmental assessment. Once I address everything flagged, it’s time for a copyedit – and then, hopefully, we’re close to completion.

By the end of March, I will have a better idea of when you might expect the next book.

An updated newsletter

I think it’s safe to say that I’ve spent the last months trying to find the right voice and style for my newsletter. It’s coming together, but I also spent a lot of time just hammering on about Reality Check and trying to persuade you lot to leave me reviews (please do that, it really helps – either Amazon or Goodreads – or both if you’re feeling generous).

This next year, I’m going to refine it a little more. I focus on both things for readers and writers, as I know a number of you are interested in it, whether you’re actively writing or just thinking about it right now. I have new ideas for content, and I hope this makes things more interesting and engaging for subscribers.

If you have ideas of what you’d like to see, please let me know and I’ll see if I can make it happen!

If you haven’t signed up yet, visit the newsletter page or use the form below to get involved. You’ll still get an ebook copy of Introductions: Volume One, too!

Just make sure to check your spam folder for the welcome email.

Group promotions

Another project I’m working on this year are group promotions. I’m teaming up with other indie authors in a number of promotions.

I’ll level with you. I’m doing this to try and get more eyes on my books. The goal is more newsletter subscribers, book sales and reviews – in that order. I need to see how this all plays out and works, but I promise that any promotions you see from me are relevant genres to what I write. That means sci-fi and fantasy.

The best thing about this for you is that there will most likely be free stories and material. You might find something amazing to try, or you’ll find things you’re not interested in. With new books published daily, that’s a useful bit of information to have.

If you see these promotions, please check them out – and share them with anyone who you think would be interested. Every single click helps. Seriously.

More social media

It’s fair to say I’ve been fairly inconsistent with my social media usage. I overly promote on Facebook, talk crap on Twitter, struggle to be consistent on Instagram, and I’ve not done a thing on TikTok despite having an account.

I need to get better with it in 2022, find a balance between self-promotion, interesting content and just…random crap. Sounds strange, right? It most definitely is, and perhaps and I’m overthinking it, but I’ve got to consider myself a brand as much of a person now.

That takes some getting used to, and you can help by just interacting with me on these platforms. Likes, shares, comments and such all help social media platforms think my content is relevant to people, and that let’s me get the word out to more people. It helps more than you know.

Here are my profiles:

That’s all I’ve got for you this time. A new book, an updated newsletter, and lots more. Lots of 2022 goodness coming your way from, if not from anywhere else.

Stay tuned!
